Ingredients:

  1. 1 cup cake flour
  2. 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  3. 12 large egg whites, at room temperature
  4. 1 tsp cream of tartar
  5. 1/4 tsp salt
  6. 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).


Sift the cake flour and 1/2 cup of the sugar together in a bowl and set aside.

In an enormous blending bowl, beat the egg whites with an electric blender on medium speed until they become foamy.


Add the cream of tartar and salt to the egg whites and continue to beat until soft peaks form.


Gradually add the remaining 1 cup of sugar to the egg whites, a little at a time, while continuing to beat on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form.


Gently fold in the sifted flour mixture, a little at a time, using a rubber spatula.


Fold in the vanilla extract until everything is evenly combined.


Pour the batter into an ungreased 10-inch (25cm) tube pan, spreading it evenly.
